White Rock is an established residential suburb about 9 kilometres south-west of the Cairns CBD, sitting on the eastern side of the Bruce Highway and the railway line, with Smiths Creek and Skeleton Creek marking its outer edges. Trinity Anglican School and White Rock State School are both here, and homes range from older houses and brick lowsets through to more recent builds. Cairns Concrete Driveways builds and replaces driveways, paths and slabs across the suburb. Whether you need a new concrete driveway, a concrete path along the side of the house or a slab for a carport, we look at your block, talk through finishes that suit the way you use it, and give you a clear, written quote before any work is booked.
Much of White Rock is flat and close to the creeks that drain towards Trinity Inlet, so water and ground conditions matter. Low-lying coastal land around Cairns can include soft soils and, in some places, acid sulfate soils, so we check the ground as we dig and adjust base preparation if needed. Good falls are essential in a wet-season downpour, and a grated drain at the garage entry can stop water reaching the door. For a busy driveway, exposed aggregate or a broomed finish offers grip and hides marks. Older concrete can often be saved with concrete crack repair and sealing. For crossover changes, check with Cairns Regional Council first.

We Check the Ground First
On flat, low-lying land, what is under the concrete matters as much as the finish on top. We look at soil and drainage before quoting and build the base to suit, rather than assuming every block in the street is the same.
Mindful of Coastal Soils
Some low coastal areas around Cairns may contain acid sulfate soils, which need careful handling if disturbed. We keep excavation to what the job needs and suggest checking with Cairns Regional Council if your site is in a mapped area or deeper digging is planned.
Drainage for Heavy Downpours
Tropical storms can drop a lot of rain quickly. We set falls, kerbs and channel drains so your driveway and paths shed water fast and keep it away from garages, doorways and the house slab, even in a big wet-season storm.
Close to Home
White Rock sits right on the Bruce Highway corridor, so it is easy for our crews to reach and fit into the schedule. Concrete, pumps and labour arrive as planned, and you are kept informed if the weather changes the timing.
Respectful of Neighbours
Established streets mean neighbours close by. We keep noise reasonable, protect shared driveways and footpaths, park considerately and contain all washout, so the job causes as little disruption as possible to the people around you while we work on your property.
Honest About Repair Options
If repairs and sealing will do the job, we will tell you. If replacement is the better long-term choice, we explain why. Either way, you get a clear recommendation based on the condition of your concrete, not on what earns us more.

White Rock Concrete FAQs
Here are answers to the questions White Rock homeowners most often ask us about concrete work.
Acid sulfate soils are natural soils found in some low-lying coastal areas. They are harmless while left undisturbed and waterlogged, but when excavated and exposed to air they can release acid that damages concrete, steel and the surrounding environment. Not every low-lying property has them, and a typical driveway involves fairly shallow digging. Even so, if your site is in a mapped area or a deeper excavation is planned, it is worth checking with Cairns Regional Council about any management requirements. We can talk through what that might mean for your job and plan the excavation to keep disturbance to a minimum.
Pooling usually means the driveway has too little fall, has settled in places, or water from the roof and yard has nowhere to go. On a new driveway, we set consistent falls towards the street or a drain and can add grated channel drains across the driveway or in front of the garage. For an existing driveway, it may be possible to fix a low spot by cutting out and replacing a section, or to redirect downpipes and garden runoff. Where the whole slab falls the wrong way, replacement is often the only lasting fix. We will assess the cause and explain your options.
Yes, but we plan carefully. The wet season in Cairns typically runs from around December to April, bringing heavy and sometimes sudden downpours. We watch forecasts closely, keep covers on hand and avoid pouring when heavy rain is expected within the first few hours. Saturated ground can also delay excavation and base preparation. If you can, booking work in the drier months gives more flexibility, but plenty of jobs go ahead during the wet with good planning. If conditions turn on the day, we will talk to you about rescheduling rather than risking a damaged finish.
We do both. Many White Rock driveways and paths are still structurally sound and only need cracks repaired, damaged edges patched or a trip hazard addressed. Repairs are generally quicker and cheaper than replacement, and sealing afterwards helps protect the surface. Repairs will not always match perfectly in colour, though, and they are not a fix for concrete that is badly broken, sinking or undermined. In those cases, removing and replacing the affected sections is the better choice. We inspect the concrete, explain what we think is causing the problem and give you honest options at different price points.
Regular sweeping and an occasional hose-down go a long way. In the Cairns climate, shaded or damp areas can grow mould and algae, so a periodic clean with a suitable product helps. Wipe up oil and fuel spills promptly, as they can stain. A good sealer protects the surface from moisture, staining and UV, and most sealers need reapplying every few years, depending on the product and how much traffic and sun the driveway gets. Avoid harsh chemicals that can damage the sealer. We will give you care instructions suited to your finish when the job is done.
