Trinity Beach sits between the Earl Hill reserve and Kewarra Beach, roughly 20 minutes north of the Cairns CBD. Vasey Esplanade runs along the foreshore with cafes, restaurants and holiday apartments, while the streets behind climb the slopes with homes looking back over the Coral Sea. Cairns Concrete Driveways works across both halves of the suburb, from unit blocks near the beach to steep hillside blocks where getting a car up to the garage safely is the main challenge. We build concrete driveways, steps, paths and slabs that are practical first and look good second. If your new driveway needs a crossover to the street, check the requirements with Cairns Regional Council before work begins.
Slope is the big story on many Trinity Beach jobs. Steep driveways need the right grade transitions so cars do not scrape, a textured finish for grip when it is wet, and drainage that stops water racing down the concrete and into the garage. Where the block needs levelling, we can build retaining walls and form solid concrete steps between levels. Wet season storms push a lot of water through hillside properties in a short time, so we look at where runoff will go before we pour, not after. Down on the flatter streets near the beach, older driveways are often due for repair or a fresh finish. Whatever the job, we explain the options plainly and give you a clear written quote.

Comfortable on Slopes
Steep blocks need careful access planning for trucks, pumps and barrows. We work out how concrete will get from the street to the pour site well before the day, so there are no surprises and the job runs safely and on time.
Water Management First
On a hillside, where the water goes matters as much as how the concrete looks. We plan falls, drains and outlets as part of the design, so heavy wet season rain moves away from your home rather than into it.
Honest Advice on Walls
Not every retaining wall is a simple job. We tell you plainly when a wall is likely to need engineering input or council approval, rather than building something that could cause problems down the track for you or your neighbours.
Grip Where It Counts
Wet concrete on a steep grade can be slippery. We choose textures and finishes that give tyres and shoes something to hold, and steer you away from finishes that look smart in a brochure but turn slick in the first downpour.
Local Northern Beaches Crews
We work across Trinity Beach and the neighbouring beaches regularly, so we know the streets, the access challenges and the conditions. That familiarity helps us plan realistically, turn up when we say we will and keep you updated if the weather shifts the plan.
Tidy, Considerate Sites
Hillside streets are often narrow, with limited parking. We keep trucks and materials organised, protect neighbouring driveways and gardens, and clean up properly at the end of each day so the street stays usable for everyone living on it.

Trinity Beach Concrete FAQs
Here are answers to the questions Trinity Beach homeowners and unit owners ask us most often.
There is no single number that suits every block, as it depends on the length of the slope, the transitions at each end and what vehicles will use it. Very steep driveways can be built, but they need careful design so cars do not scrape at the crossover or garage, and a textured finish so tyres keep their grip in the rain. Where the driveway meets the street, council requirements for the crossover may also apply, so it is worth checking with Cairns Regional Council early on. We measure the levels on site and explain what grades are practical for your block before we quote.
It depends on the height of the wall, what it is holding up and how close it is to boundaries, buildings or easements. Smaller garden walls often need no approval, while taller walls, or walls supporting a driveway or structure, may need engineering design and a building approval. Because the rules depend on your particular site, check with Cairns Regional Council or a private certifier before committing. We can tell you when a wall looks likely to need that extra step, and we are happy to build from engineered drawings if your design requires them.
On sloping blocks, this is usually because the driveway falls towards the garage with nothing to catch the water before it reaches the door. Wet season storms can dump a lot of rain in a short time, and an older driveway may never have been built with enough drainage. Common fixes include installing a strip drain across the driveway in front of the garage, reshaping the falls on part of the slab, or adding a spoon drain to redirect water around the building. The water then needs to go to a suitable outlet. We look at the whole catchment before recommending the simplest fix that will actually work.
Yes. When a truck cannot reach the pour site, we use a concrete pump to move the concrete up or down the slope through a line or boom. This is common on hillside blocks and saves a lot of barrowing on steep, uneven ground. We assess access during the site visit, looking at street width, overhead power lines, trees and where the pump can safely set up. Where a pump is needed, it is included in the quote so you know the cost upfront. Larger jobs on very steep blocks may also need extra crew to place and finish the concrete before it starts to set.
Sometimes. If the existing driveway is structurally sound, with only surface wear, fine cracking or staining, a resurfacing overlay can give it a fresh look for less than a full replacement. If the slab has major cracks, sunken sections, lifting from tree roots or drainage problems, resurfacing will not fix the underlying issue and the damage will show through again. We inspect the driveway, check for movement and explain which option makes sense. On steep driveways we also consider whether the current grades and transitions are worth keeping, or whether this is the right time to correct them.
